Meeting up with old friends

I love Facebook as it is a great platform for me to meet old school friends. Technology at its best.

A bunch of us decided to meet up for iftar yesterday. I had not met them since the last reunion which was sooo long ago. I think it was 10 years ago. Even the restaurant we met at has closed.

We planned to eat at Swensens Orchard, the one beside Paragon. Great! I have to spend off the Taka vouchers anyway. I got like $70 left to spend. I bought 2 skirts from Anne Klein, which was on sale and 3 environmatally reusable bags thingy that is lightweight and rolls up so you can throw them in your bag everyday.

I proceeded to the mosque for Asar prayers and decided to go Swensens after maghrib prayers so I don't have to walk back and forth.

We had a great time catching up. Originally, there's supposed to be 12 people. But in the end, only 7 showed up. Sue, Yana, Lyd, Wan, Zuze, Fi and me. We had a blast. Laughing like crazy. bringing up old embarrassing times in school. Almost the end we realised that all 7 of us are form the same class in Sec 1 and 2. We even told Wan, who is currently a scriptwriter that she can have a whole drama series based on our lives after school.

We continued our conversations at Coffee Bean. Didn't realise it was so late. I reached home almost midnight. Haha. You know you are getting older when midnight is considered really really late.

Parents in the new millenium

A colleague juz got married recently and almost immediately got preggy. Ok... happy for her but why muz she change after getting married? She's an independant, opiniated girl and apparently, having a husband turns her into jelly. Not just any jelly, those jiggly, sticky, melty jelly that you just wish that you can throw in the bin.

Now that she's preggy, every little conversation is abt her pregnancy. EVERY LITTLE THING is associated to her pregnancy. From conception to plastic bags to the magotty macs curry sauce. Even the year end dinner is associated to her pregnancy. What is happening to the world? Is life all abt marriage and procreation?

She's not the only one. I've encountered many. Worse, they not only become dependant on their OH, they became dependant on ME!!! OMG so rimas. In fact, the became clingy to everyone ard them. Anyone is their hanger to hang their lifeless, motionless body.

It got me to think.... maybe that's how marriages work. Since men crave for power.... clingy women are their daily staple. PUH-Leezzz. But then again... ying and yang... the world works in balances.... might never know

Brings me back to the topic in hand. The new millenium parents. Got an article from another colleague on Raising Children of Character. Got me thinking of the parents that I encounter with day in day out. Not just at work, wherever I go.

It's apparently easy to breed. I'm using breed because it's physical... Just need to mate and conceive and give birth. THAT my friend, is the easy part.

Parents nowadays think like animals. Animals babies need to suckle for a few months and will be on their own. It's little wonder why kids nowadays behave worse than animals. Humans are not built like animals, we do not have the survival skills nor the physical abilities to self teach.

Kids left on their own with the hi-tech toys and television to teach them. No parental supervision at all. No parental interaction. Nothing. Left all upbringing to the maids and left all education to the school. Later, leave all punishments and discipline to the police.

It's sad how parents turn out this way. Applies to both rich and poor parents.

Those who think they are doing the right thing are the worse kind of parents. Too arrogant to admit that they are wrong and bring up arrogant kids.

I'm too upset to finish up this blog. Maybe next time...

I find it offensive that women have to apologise for their success

This line comes from one of the characters in Lipstick Jungle. I'm very surprised that this phenomenon happens worldwide and not just concentrated in traditional rich Asia. I'm still watching and more surprises to come. It's from the same writer as sex and the city but LJ is slightly different from SATC as the women are not men dependant. They are more career driven, SATC talks more on love n sex n men all the time.

Actually, I'm not career driven. I like to do my job well and I'm dedicated. Since when dedication becomes addiction. I remembered ppl calling me a workaholic. It's DEDICATION, idiots! It's de same dedication you ppl see me with my babies. It's de dedication that made me go far. Not cos I'm a workaholic.

Speaking of women bosses. Why is it that when men are firm, they are good bosses but when women are firm, they are bitches? Another thing, the term bitch is really really WRONG on so many levels. Dogs dun have a mind of their own. They follow whatever u ask them to do. The term is CATTY. Cos cats.... have a mind of their own. Bitches... make good sidekicks. Cats... make good leaders.

Will post more tmr

Peace
